[The day after the temp pairing announcement, Jedao calls him seemingly-randomly - although he's made sure not to call during Edward's custodial shift.]
If you beat me to the deck, you can choose the Enclosure location.
If you beat me to the deck, you can choose the Enclosure location.
[Jedao, of course, can track Ed's location on his item. So he arrives almost exactly 30 seconds later.]
Oh, you're here already. Wonderful.
[He heads toward the door to the warden levels to unlock it.]
So, where would you like to go?

Suits me just fine.
[He absolutely LOVES finding out about new places from people.
The item he uses to get through the door has the look of a funny foreign card deck, and then they're on the stairs up to the Enclosure door.]

Trouble deciding?
[Jedao is perfectly happy to stand here smiling passive-aggressively for a while in front of the little speaker for making requests of the room.]

Technically, yes. Everything is exactly the same distance away since we're not in the same dimension matrix.
Were you not thinking of somewhere in particular?

I've only lived in places that are very much like the barge, to tell the truth. But I suppose we could gamble.
You heard the man, sweetheart. Give us something very un-barge-like.
[Jedao says into the little microphone, giving the barge a friendly pat by way of the wall and then opening the door into the unknown.
Descending the stairs, they find themselves on a strange planet. The gravity is about half of Earth's, the sky is a dark purple, and the landscape is lit by slow-oozing rivulets of lava from a massive, singular mountain. Jellyfish-like creatures billow across the sky, blinking in bioluminescence, and in between the lava flows are dunes of deep, soft, dark-grey ashes. Gingerly coming off the staircase, Jedao sinks into it almost up to his knees.]
It's warm!

It wasn't supposed to be anything. I was surprised.
[Jedao does a few wiggly, bouncy steps, loose in the light gravity, like a kid splashing in a puddle.]
It is kind of nice, though.

Now we have to explore.
[You could have picked something specific, dude.]

"What did you expect, when you asked for something not-barge-like?" Jedao asks after him.
You know, if this was snow, I bet I could get you with a snowball.
[Jedao mutters it mostly to himself, but the ash doesn't pack worth a damn. He returns to the stairs and follows him up.]

[ He's not usually the sort to research a person before he reaches out to them - not his preference or his strong suit - but this is new territory that seems horribly easy to fuck up.
So he leaves Edward alone for the first couple of days, as he tries to get a sense on how to approach this. Fortunately, he doesn't need to scroll too far back to get exactly what he needs. ]
I've got an offer for you, Captain.

Your warden for the month.
I was wondering if you wanted to swing a sword at me.
